The Weekly Letter

from the desk of sunset  ·  est. 2025

weekly letter sealed with love,
— sunset

my fellow ink-stained dreamer,

welcome back. every week i sit down and write you something — a thought i couldn't shake, a film that stayed with me, a song i've had on repeat, or simply a day worth remembering. this is that letter. i'm glad you're here.

this week's letters

on haunts, hot chocolate & finding your place
today i put on my worn-out converse and made my way to the library...

my fellow ink-stained dreamer,

today i put on my worn-out converse and made my way to the town's library. a pretty library, though it lacks the magical air older ones do. i had spent this past week engrossed in hans anderson's tales, jane austen's anne elliot (from persuasion), and emily brontë's heart-aching wuthering heights. but fear not, i am not some genius reading prodigy or a matilda (from roald dahl's matilda), for i did not finish them. i simply went to the library for leisure. it is my haunt.

for those unfamiliar with the word, a 'haunt' is a place one frequently visits. a comfort place.

my fellow ink-stained dreamer, do you have a haunt?

if not, i eagerly encourage you to find one. imagine a place where you could run away from the never-ending reality of life and just dream. it could be a verdant park, a tranquil library, or even a charming coffee shop where you can go weekly.

i myself, when visiting my dear library, get a cup of hot chocolate and read, write, or journal. but you can do anything while at your haunt.

though the only idea i must press you against is overly utilising your phone while at your comfort place. i am aware that the constant notifications of the rectangular screen are demanding. and that they might be mesmerising. but sometimes one needs a break from all the distractions. so this week, i dare you to break your routine and find a haunt. and while you are searching, try listening to music.

these songs are on my recent go-tos:
· piledriver waltz — arctic monkeys
· i love you i'm sorry — gracie abrams
· green light — lorde
· good looking — suzie waterhouse

fellow ink-stained dreamer, what are your go-tos?
